Sick Child Visits in Las Vegas & Henderson, NV
When your child is sick, you need answers fast — not wait until next week. Nevada Pediatric Specialists offers same-day and walk-in sick visits at both our Las Vegas and Henderson locations, Monday through Friday. Our board-certified providers are also equipped with in-house rapid testing to diagnose and treat your child during a single visit.
Walk-In Sick Care, No Appointment Needed
Our walk-in clinic is open Monday through Friday. If your child wakes up with a fever, sore throat, ear pain, vomiting, or any other concerning symptom, you can bring them to our offices in Las Vegas or Henderson and receive expert pediatric care without scheduling ahead.
We also offer same-day appointments for families who prefer a reserved time. Walk-in and same-day appointments are subject to availability.
Reasons To Schedule a Sick Child Visit
Minor or short-term health issues, such as colds, may not require a sick child visit. However, if your child is sick, they may need pediatric care if they exhibit any of the following symptoms:
- Avoiding use of injured limb
- Bite puncturing the skin
- Cough lasting 10 days or more
- Difficulty breathing
- Dry mouth and lack of urination
- Ear pain
- Fever exceeding 102.2 degrees
- Fever lasting two days or more
- Head trauma
- Injury causing deformity
- Large gashes
- Pain from eye injury
- Persistent pain
- Persistent swelling
- Rash that’s spreading and looks like bleeding under the skin
- Severe headache
- Stomach pain lasting more than two hours or worsening
Serious health concerns, such as a worsening cough, may warrant a walk-in appointment with your pediatrician. However, if severe symptoms accompany serious issues, you may need emergency care. For example, if your child suffers head trauma and has a seizure, you should take them to an emergency room.
If minor symptoms, such as a runny nose, clear up without treatment, you may not need to see your pediatrician until your next well-child visit

During pediatric sick visits, our pediatricians check for common health issues, including:
- Fever and flu-like illness
- Ear infections (acute otitis media)
- Strep throat and pharyngitis
- Pink eye (conjunctivitis)
- Croup and coughs
- Stomach bugs, vomiting, and diarrhea
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin rashes and infections
- COVID-19 and RSV
- Mild asthma flares
- Minor injuries and lacerations
Pediatricians can also treat other health issues, such as:
- Allergies
- Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

- Dehydration
- Food poisoning

- Sports injuries
Well-Child Visits
Well-child visits are recurring checkups. During these appointments, your pediatrician evaluates your child to ensure they’re meeting developmental milestones and does a general health assessment.
Well-child visits play a critical role in your child’s preventive healthcare, allowing your pediatrician to address health issues before they worsen.
Children also receive standard immunizations during well-child visits.
In-House Rapid Testing
We don’t send samples to an outside lab and make you wait days for results. Our offices offer rapid in-house testing for strep, influenza A and B, COVID-19, RSV, and mono. Most results are back within 15 minutes, so your child leaves with a diagnosis and a plan, not a promise to call later.
Can’t Make It In? Telehealth Is Available
For follow-up visits, mild symptom checks, or ongoing condition management, our telemedicine service lets your child see a provider from home.
Telehealth is available for established patients.
When to Seek Emergency Care Instead
Most childhood illnesses can be managed safely at our office. However, please go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 if your child has:
- Difficulty breathing or severe respiratory distress
- A seizure
- Signs of severe dehydration
- Altered consciousness or extreme lethargy
- A serious injury
- If your infant under 2 months old has any fever above 100.4°F
