Adolescent Medicine Specialist
Adolescent Medicine in Las Vegas & Henderson, NV
The teenage years bring rapid physical, emotional, and social change — and health needs that are distinct from those of younger children. At Nevada Pediatric Specialists, we provide comprehensive, confidential adolescent medicine for teens in Las Vegas and Henderson. We create a space where teenagers feel comfortable being honest with their doctor.
What Is Adolescent Medicine?
Adolescent medicine is the branch of pediatrics focused on the unique health needs of teenagers and young adults, typically ages 12 through 21. It encompasses physical health, mental health, reproductive health, substance use, sports medicine, chronic disease management, and the transition to adult care. Our providers are trained to address all of these areas with age-appropriate communication and genuine respect for our teenage patients.

Confidential Care for Teenagers
The AAP recommends that adolescents have private time with their physician at every annual visit. This is standard practice at our office. We explain confidentiality to both teens and parents at the beginning of the teen years, so everyone understands what information is and isn’t private.
Confidential care is not about keeping secrets from parents — it’s about building the trust that makes teenagers honest with their doctor. A teenager who can speak freely with their physician gets better care.
Mental Health in Adolescence
Anxiety and depression in teenagers are increasingly common, and they’re often missed. Our providers screen for mental health conditions at every annual visit using validated tools. We provide initial counseling, help connect families to mental health resources in Las Vegas and Henderson, and can coordinate care with therapists and child psychiatrists when needed. Many follow-up mental health visits can also be managed via telehealth for convenience.
