Flu Shots Specialist
Flu Shots for Kids in Las Vegas & Henderson, NV
Influenza can be serious — even life-threatening — for young children. Nevada Pediatric Specialists offers annual flu vaccinations for children 6 months and older at both our Las Vegas and Henderson locations, with walk-in availability throughout flu season so you never have an excuse to put it off.
Why the Flu Vaccine Matters for Children
Children under 5 — and especially those under 2 — are at significantly higher risk of serious flu complications, including hospitalization and pneumonia. Vaccination is the single most effective way to protect your child during flu season, which in Nevada typically peaks between December and February but can begin as early as October.
The flu shot also helps protect infants under 6 months (who are too young to be vaccinated themselves) through community immunity, and reduces the risk that your child will bring the illness home to vulnerable family members.
Which Flu Vaccine Does Your Child Need?
Children 6 months and older can receive the injectable flu vaccine. Children 2 years and older may be eligible for the nasal spray flu vaccine (FluMist), though certain health conditions affect eligibility. Our providers will determine which formulation is most appropriate for your child.
Children under 9 who are receiving the flu vaccine for the first time need two doses, given at least 4 weeks apart. Our team will let you know if your child falls into this category.
When to Get the Flu Shot
The CDC and AAP recommend flu vaccination for everyone 6 months and older, ideally by the end of October. However, getting vaccinated later in the season still provides meaningful protection. We administer flu vaccines from late summer through the end of flu season. The flu vaccine is part of our comprehensive immunizations schedule — ask about other vaccines your child may be due for at the same visit.
Walk-In Flu Shots — No Appointment Needed
Flu shots are available during walk-in clinic hours Monday through Saturday. You can also schedule a dedicated flu shot appointment online or by calling 702-457-5437. Flu vaccines can also be given at your child’s well-child visit if one is scheduled during the fall.
